A letter from CC

Hello, and welcome to the underworld. Please check your halo at the door and watch your step...it's a long way down.

This album is my descent, loosely inspired by the Divine Comedy, a 700-year-old Italian poem by Dante Alighieri, that explores justice, morality, love, and redemption. The album is similarly presented in 3 distinct parts: inferno, purgatorio, and paradiso.

I'll be honest: this album consumed me. I obsessed over every last note, every single word, every transition, across many 2ams in my 166-year-old house in New Orleans. A few songs went through four completely different lives before fully earning their place. The work is a one-way journey from front to back as one continuous descent...so when the time comes, please (I'm begging you), turn off shuffle :)

Above is a stripped version of "I. Let My Devil Play With Yours," one of my favorite songs on the album, filmed during the album's actual vocal session. The final version is…different. Consider this your first step down.

This is its home. I'll keep adding to it as we go, so stay tuned :)
